Quick Reference: Academic Information The Office of the Registrar is responsible for maintaining academic records. Office staff help students to obtain certifications of enrollment and academic status and handle the preparation and issuing of transcripts. Most student work is reported each semester in terms of letter grades. Grades are communicated directly to students, in keeping with the university’s policy that students are adults, with all the inherent rights and responsibilities implied by that status. All grades and notations for courses are visible on student transcripts. After grades are recorded for a semester, they are available to students online via Bear Facts. Current students can also order transcripts via Bear Facts and have them mailed to any recipient. Current students who need transcripts immediately must request them in person at the Office of the Registrar in 120 Sproul Hall; the transcripts can be picked up in person by the student or by someone who has the student’s written authorization to do so. Specific information that must be included in that authorization is available from the Office of the Registrar at 510/642-5990.
