Cal Day – Your Best Time to Visit
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a Cal Day regular,
April 22 is your day to discover Cal.

Spring 2006 | UC Berkeley is an amazing place. Students study with renowned scholars. They make music, play sports, act in theater performances. They work with the treasures of dozens of libraries and museums—from illuminated manuscripts to potshards from ancient Egypt. On any given day, that’s Berkeley.
But on Cal Day — Berkeley’s annual open house that falls this year on Saturday, April 22 — the campus pulls out all the stops for some 35,000 visitors, with a special welcome for families and newly admitted students. With faculty lectures, tours, music, sports, museums, and more, the campus gives even the most seasoned visitor a whole new appreciation of Berkeley’s depth and breadth. And admission is free!
Cal Day’s official hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (A welcome session for newly admitted students and their families begins earlier, at 8:30 a.m.) Parking is free but limited, so consider using public transportation to campus and then take the free shuttles that run all day from the Berkeley BART station.
More than 300 events are scheduled on Cal Day, so there are sure to be many that you’ll enjoy. A sampling follows. The complete schedule of activities will be available after April 1 at www.berkeley.edu/calday. Information on how to get here and where to stay is in the Visitor Guide.
