So What Else Is New in the Residence Halls?

Move-in purchasing program
Innovations in the residence halls aren’t all green, though; some are percale and terrycloth. A new service for Move-In Day will ease shopping and packing for your student’s August arrival on campus. Residential and Student Service Programs, which operates the campus’s residential housing program, has arranged with Bed, Bath & Beyond to help parents outfit their student’s room. Called “Equip Your Space,” the new move-in purchasing program enables residential students and their parents to shop and select items needed to set up a new living area at Cal from any Bed, Bath & Beyond store or online, and then pick it up at residence halls on Move-In Day. Bed, Bath & Beyond provides a convenient checklist of items needed to “Equip Your Space,” from bed linens and storage containers to kitchen and bath accessories. Seismic safety
After years of retrofitting, Facilities Services has completed seismic safety improvements to all residence halls, and it continues to upgrade other buildings across campus. It has also constructed more than 1,000 new rooms for students in the last five years, including graduate student housing at Ida Jackson House and space for upper division students at Wada Hall and Channing/Bowditch apartments on the South Side.
