Open houses, tours, and performances
Get to know the campus on a student-led walking tour. Visit the Hearst Museum of Anthropology, UC Berkeley Art Museum, Doe Library, Museum of Paleontology, University and Jepson Herbaria, and UC Botanical Garden, all hosting open houses throughout the weekend. Or attend performances by Grammy nominee Taylor Eigsti or the Japanese Puppet Theatre. For details, see homecoming.berkeley.edu.
Pac-10 sports and spirit
See Cal athletes in action, starting with women’s volleyball vs. Washington State on Friday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. in Haas Pavilion (keep your seat for a spirit rally beginning at 10 p.m.). Root the Bears to victory over Oregon State at Saturday’s football game in Memorial Stadium. Order tickets when you register (or at calbears.com).
Special parent-student events
- Friday, 5-7 p.m.: Meet other parents over hors d’oeuvres and a no-host bar at the Cal Parents Reception on the terrace of the UC Berkeley Art Museum.
- Saturday, 8:15-9 a.m.: Join Chancellor Robert Birgeneau and his wife, Mary Catherine, for continental breakfast at the Campanile.
- Saturday, 3.5 hours before kickoff: Bring the family to the Bear Affair Barbecue before the football game for food and live entertainment from Cal student groups at the Campanile.
- Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Wrap up the weekend with a picnic lunch with your student, also at the Campanile.
