By air
The Oakland and San Francisco airports are close to the Berkeley campus.
Several local companies provide shuttle service, and BART takes passengers
from both airports to downtown Berkeley, close to campus.
By BART
BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)
is the Bay Area's subway system. It provides service to communities
both east and west of San Francisco Bay, including Berkeley, and access
to and from the Oakland and San Francisco airports. The downtown Berkeley
station is closest to the campus.
By bus
AC Transit is the municipal bus
system that serves much of the East Bay, with service to San Francisco.
By car
Directions below lead to the campus Visitor Center, 101 University Hall,
at the corner of University Ave. and Oxford St.
From Northbound Hwy 101
(from San Francisco/Daly City)
Follow Hwy 101 North, and then switch to I-80 East (San Francisco/Oakland
Bay Bridge). Cross the Bay Bridge, exit to I-80 East (Berkeley/Sacramento).
Exit at University Ave. Continue east on University for approximately
1.5 miles to Oxford St.
From Westbound Hwy 24
From Hwy 24, exit at Telegraph Ave. Continue on Telegraph until it deadends
at the campus on Bancroft Way. Turn left on Bancroft. Turn right on Fulton,
which becomes Oxford St. in 2 blocks. Continue on Oxford to University
Ave.
From Westbound Hwy 13
Follow Hwy 13 until it ends, becoming Tunnel Rd. Continue on Tunnel Rd.,
which becomes Ashby Ave. just beyond the Claremont Hotel. Turn right on
Shattuck Ave. Turn right at University Ave. and continue east one block
to Oxford St.
From I-80 East or West
Exit at University Ave. Continue east on University for approximately
1.5 miles to Oxford St.
From Westbound I-580
Exit at I-80 East (to Berkeley/Sacramento). Exit at University Ave. Continue
east on University for approximately 1.5 miles to Oxford St.
From North I-880
(from San Jose/Hayward/Oakland Airport)
Stay in left and center lanes on I-880, and exit onto I-80 East (Berkeley/Sacramento).
Exit at University Ave. Continue east on University for approximately
1.5 miles to Oxford St.
By train
Amtrak
has service to the Bay Area into Emeryville and Oakland (Jack London Square),
both about 3 miles from the campus. The Capitol
Corridor, a commuter line between San Jose and Auburn (northeast of
Sacramento), also stops in Berkeley.
